First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ProTrans International.
Customer Service Representative
The interview process wasn't super professional, but this was a few years back so maybe it's improved. They looked over my resume and told me I was qualified. They asked me some basic questions about shift work and what I expected. It took them over 6 weeks to give me an offer.
- Why do you want to work for Protrans?
Talent Development Program
So first you have a phone screening, which is pretty laid back. They just wanna chat about your resume and tell you about the program. Then there's a half day interview, which is kinda tough. I've had worse and better though. It's two interviews, 30 minutes each, so they go fast. The first one had two upper management people, and the second one had three C-suite execs. The first interview was really stiff and one person was super skeptical and challenged me a lot when I was selling myself. The second one felt more comfortable. You also get a tour and a roundtable with current TDP people.
- What makes you a strong candidate for this talent development program?
Talent Development Program
So I started by emailing the recruiter after my friend suggested it. A few days later, I got an email from two people, one a general recruiter and the other specifically for the Talent Development Program (TDP). They sent me info for a career day on December 18th. I went, and it was super informative. They gave presentations on ProTrans' history, different departments, and the TDP itself. We also got a tour of the corporate office. Then there were two panel interviews with middle to upper management. The questions weren't too tough. Afterward, they took us to a nice restaurant for lunch. I was there from 8 AM until about 2:30 PM.
- Could you describe your ideal manager and what kind of manager you would be, including a description of yourself?
- How do you approach making decisions?
- How would you manage handling multiple projects simultaneously?
Route Manager
I connected with a recruiter from the company at a career fair, and they set up an interview for me a few weeks later. The interview process involved meeting individually with two of their three operations managers for about 15 to 30 minutes each. The discussions focused on my knowledge of the industry and getting to know me personally. It felt very laid-back, and both managers were happy to answer any questions I had. Business casual attire is appropriate.
- What is your level of knowledge regarding Microsoft Excel?
- The interviewer mentioned they were looking for honesty regarding Excel skills, not necessarily expertise.
