I got through the initial screening interview with some TA. I have a lot of documented experience in my role and ticked all the boxes in the job post, but I could feel I was not responding to the satisfaction of the TA. It was not a dialog but more like a questionnaire. I was rejected 2 days later because other candidates were "better aligned", whatever that means. I did not have a positive experience with this company. It seems like everything is about how great Proton is and not about getting the best candidates. If you're good at pleasing and guessing what the TA wants to hear in the screening interview you're probably more likely to pass to the actual interview process. I reached out to the TA after the interview to get clarification about the reason for rejection, but never got an answer. Not a good image.

The whole experience was great from start to finish. They were clear about what to expect before each interview. The HR team, Ondrej and Viktor, were some of the best people I've worked with, very helpful and easy to collaborate with. The technical interviews, while a bit nerve-wracking for me, were fair and aligned with the job description and invitations. Yuru, Eammon, and Dingchao were supportive and helped me do better than I expected, easing my anxiety.

We had around 5 interviews in total, including two technical ones. I liked that they focused on practical, real-world scenarios rather than just Leetcode-style algorithm problems.
