I applied online and a recruiter got in touch. I asked about the comp plan, which might have been a misstep. After getting up to speed on the platform and products, I was ready. The 'interview' itself was only 9 minutes long. It was clear from the start that she wasn't really interested in conducting an interview, which made it a complete waste of my time.

The talent team at Protenus (especially Zach) was great with communication and being upfront, which is nice. It was a pretty standard process: first with talent, then the hiring manager, followed by a panel with the head of CS, the hiring manager, and some peer employees. There was a take-home assignment, which I wasn't thrilled about, but it was low-stakes and basically just a basic skills check. They were clear about salary expectations from the start, which was also appreciated. The only downside was that the salary range was a bit lower than what's typical in the market, but overall, I had a really good interview experience and think I would have enjoyed working with the Protenus team.

I got in touch with a recruiter, who was really great. After I sent in my application, I had to complete an online assessment, which I finished within the week. Next up was a phone chat with the hiring manager. Then, I had an in-person meeting with a few people. After that, I gave them my references and then they made me an offer. The whole thing was pretty smooth. They got back to me fast, communicated clearly, and let me know what was coming next. Everyone I met was awesome. The office was nice, and the company culture was just what you'd want – open, honest, and supportive. The team made sure I understood the job and growth possibilities. I only passed on the offer because I was moving to San Francisco. If I end up back in Baltimore and looking for work, I'd definitely check out Protenus again.

The interview process was pretty straightforward. First, I chatted with the talent manager about the company, role, team, culture, and product. They were really friendly and seemed enthusiastic about the company, making it a pleasant conversation. After determining it could be a good mutual fit, they scheduled a Zoom call with the hiring manager. That was a good chat too, and she was great to talk with. However, after learning more about the specifics of the role, I realized it wasn't the best long-term fit for my goals. I'm interested in revisiting this company later when their team is more established and they have more defined processes in place. Looking forward to seeing their progress!
