It wasn't a difficult process since I have a technical and commercial background, making the role very familiar to my current responsibilities and my new role as a regional sales manager covering Southeast Asian countries.

I recently interviewed for a Designer role in Chennai. My resume was shortlisted due to my experience with major oil and gas companies like FMC Technologies and Halliburton. A consultancy initially shortlisted me, and then Proserv arranged a face-to-face interview. We discussed my work experience and drawing knowledge. The interviewer mentioned they are looking for people with knowledge of their company's specific products and tools. I questioned this, asking why they would seek such specific expertise when hiring new people and why my resume was chosen if that was the case. It felt like the HR and consultancy didn't know what they needed and were just playing with people's time. With over 10 years of experience in major oil and gas companies in India and Singapore, I've never encountered such an interview process. My feeling after the interview was that they simply called candidates for interviews to tease them and then send them back.

I took a quick test on electrical stuff, then met the supervisor. He offered me $22/hour, but I wanted more. He said no. The recruiter mentioned their electricians start between $20-$25/hour, which was a bummer. I ended up taking the job, and he promised to push for a raise after 3 months. When the time came, he said he'd try, but then told me he couldn't because I was hired as a temp and wouldn't be eligible for a raise, vacation, or sick pay for a year. That really ticked me off, felt like I was lied to, and I think Dexter at the 529 location knew what he was doing. He might have been replaced, but the policy is probably still the same, who knows.

After submitting an online application, I was invited to an assessment day with other candidates. The assessment day was quite interesting. They wanted to gauge our team spirit and our ability to come up with creative, results-driven ideas. Following the assessment day, there was an interview.
