Had a really good time with the recruiter at Propeller, super professional and really helpful. Next up was the CEO, who seemed really interested in my background and getting to know me. It was a bit tough though, he didn't really want to talk about the company's vision and strategy, which made me hesitate.

It started with a recruiter call, which was nice and made me curious about their product. Then I met with the CTO. He seemed unprepared and asked random, unrelated technical questions like 'What is a Python global interpreter lock?' He interrupted me a lot and didn't seem to understand data engineering well. It felt like he wanted someone who only knows theory, not practical skills. Reporting to him and taking over his code seemed like a bad fit because he'd have impossibly high expectations. The whole experience felt off, especially since the job description was for data engineering, but the questions were about things like GIL and multithreading.

The interview process had 5 rounds total. It included a take-home assignment that was quite involved. The recruiter was really on top of things throughout. After the final interview, I had a 15-minute call with the recruiter to discuss the experience and my interviews, and they gave me some feedback. It was only after that 15-minute call that I was told I wouldn't be getting an offer, which felt like a bait and switch.

I got an interview for Director of Customer Success after reaching out on LinkedIn. The recruiter passed me to someone else, who then set up a phone call. During the call, I was asked why I was interested in Propeller Aero. I answered, and then got to talk about my career path. The interviewer said my resume already covered my experience, so she didn't need me to go over it. She felt my answers about my background addressed her questions. She mentioned she'd talk to the hiring manager and let me know about next steps. She was pretty quiet and didn't ask more questions. I got rejected two days later. I still think Propeller Aero is a great company with a product that could impact safety and health, and I'm bummed it didn't work out this time.
