I applied online and heard back about 2 weeks later with an email for a phone interview. The interview was with the director of recruiting. The questions were the usual tell me about yourself, your current role, and why you want to work for PFS. I thought it was going great until they asked about my compensation expectations. When I gave a number, they immediately shot it down as impossible. Like other reviewers said, they try to downplay your qualifications and experience hoping you'll accept something MUCH lower. They're in a high cost of living area with tough competition. At other consulting firms, $100,000+ is normal, but PFS caps out at $80,000, which is pretty bad. It makes sense why they don't post salary ranges on their job listings.

Behavioral Other

I got contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. We had a casual phone conversation then I had a Zoom interview with two VP-level folks who were great and personable. HR ultimately offered me a salary that was not competitive with my current rate. Additionally they were hesitant to give me a senior title, which I currently possess. When they agreed to give me a senior title they let me know it wouldn’t increase the salary. I am not interested in working somewhere where my skills are downplayed so I declined. Additionally I was told I they don’t hire for specific projects so I was not willing to take an offer without having an understanding of the work I’d be supporting or the manager I’d be working under.

Phone screen then a few days later one on one interview. Asked standard behavioral questions. Upon discussing the salary it was very low, somewhat disappointed because my previous experience was downplayed in order to give me the offer. For the area and other consulting firms locally it was very low. I think its a great entry-level position.

First, there was a phone screening with HR, then a behavioral video interview with the manager. Both took about 30 minutes. The first call was general questions, and the second one went deeper into my resume.
