First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Promethean World.
Service Manager
There were about 4-5 interviews. It was a pretty standard process, with the usual types of questions. It might feel a bit tiring, and some parts might seem pointless. If you prepare with common interview questions, you should be good. Make sure to show a lot of personality because the teams are small, and people want to know you'd be easy to work with.
- Describe a situation where you had to resolve an issue involving a challenging colleague.
UX Product Designer
It started with a recruiter call where they went over basic info about the job and asked some general questions. Then, I had a video call with the manager who asked me some UX-specific questions from a list. After that, I did a video call with the whole UX team where I presented for about 30 minutes on past projects, and then they asked me questions for 15 minutes. They actually called me on the day of my third interview to offer me the job, so I was super happy!
- How would you handle a situation where you have to work with a difficult team member?
Software Engineer
It began with a recruiter chat to talk about the job and how I could fit. Then, I had a 1-hour talk with the hiring manager. We kicked things off with 'tell-me-about-yourself' and then got into some technical questions about full stack. I noticed a few issues when I asked my questions. 1. The team seemed pretty siloed and maybe not very open. It felt like collaborating with the tech leads, who have been there a while, might be tough. 2. The responsibilities for senior/principal folks seemed pretty minor compared to the tech leads. 3. The interviewer didn't seem that into my background, just that it was full stack (python). He said it was a plus, but it seemed like he decided in the first 10 minutes. 4. They're using really old tech for things like version control and CI. 5. The engineering teams are just devs, no cross-functional stuff. Because of all this, I decided not to continue.
- Can you tell me about the most challenging feature you've worked on recently?
- What's your approach to collaborating with different teams?
- Could you explain some concepts related to REST?
Customer Service Representative
So, this whole thing went on for like, over a month, felt like it took forever. It started with an online personality test, then I had another test, and then a big 2-hour interview where they even touched on stuff from that second test. I was actually put forward by an agency, and I was keen because I'm fluent in French, but it turned out they were really looking for someone with more of a technical background, which I missed. It's crazy how much weight companies put on these personality tests these days. By the end of the interview, I knew I wasn't the right fit. I just had to wait for their feedback, which, gotta say, they did give pretty detailed feedback. I actually like the company and would've loved to dive in. They knew I came from management and that I'd need to switch, and we talked about it, but I guess I didn't convince them. I'm looking for a career change, but it's not gonna be with them.
- How would you respond to some of the findings from the personality test?
- Let's do a role-play over the phone, first in French.
- Now let's do a role-play over the phone, in English.
