First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Project Management Institute.
HR Generalist
The interview process was really well organized. First, I spoke with the recruiter. Then, I had interviews with the team and the manager. The final round was with the VP of Global Talent and another executive. The recruiter kept me updated on what was happening after each stage.
- Can you describe the most difficult decision you faced in your last job and how you dealt with it?
- What are your go-to strategies for change management?
Community and Market Coordinator
I went through three interview rounds for this role, and they seemed to go well. I didn't realize at first that the position was with PMOGA, a company they recently acquired. After finishing all three interviews, they went completely silent and ghosted me, which was strange. I sent several follow-up emails but got no reply. Looking at their website, the job listing was gone, so I'm not sure if they hired someone. A quick email saying I didn't get the job would have been nice.
- What makes you unique compared to other applicants for this position?
Executive Assistant
The interview process started with a video call with two members from talent. Although the conversation went well, it felt a bit hurried. After that, I was asked to complete a Hogan Personality Assessment. The second round was another video interview, this time with a Senior HR representative. This call also seemed positive, but it began with the interviewer expressing some work-related frustrations. They also commented that they thought I might be overqualified, which I found interesting, so I made sure to emphasize my continued interest in the position. A few days later, after I followed up, I was informed by the initial talent contact that they had chosen another candidate because that person had more experience supporting C-suite executives. This feedback contradicted what the Senior HR person had implied. I believe if I had been given the opportunity to interview with the CEO, I would have been successful. Reflecting on my interactions, I got the impression of some internal mismanagement, communication issues, and overall instability within the company.
- Could you discuss your background and explain how it connects to the requirements of this position?
Student Engagement Specialist
The first round was great with HR. Very basic and relaxed. Then moved to the second round. Holy Moly. If you see very general JD on the website, please ask more info about the job that you wanted to apply for. Before the second round started 2 hours early, you only got the detailed JD. Too many info you need to know and prepare. If you are a person who would like to prepare for the interview seriously before the real interview starts, please be careful. The fresh JD also includes the other people’s edits in the doc. Very unprofessional. So ask for a detailed JD before the interview. The candidates’ time is also time. The second interview with the manager was great and professional.
- Can you tell me about your background and experience?
