Case Behavioral

I went through three stages at Progyny, including an in-office case study. After finishing the case study, I was told on the same day that there would be a next-stage informal chat. Then, out of nowhere, I got a standard rejection email with no explanation. I asked for clarification about what changed and why I was rejected, but never got a proper answer. No feedback, no transparency—just a blanket rejection. This experience was incredibly frustrating. If Progyny wants to attract talent, they need to at least communicate clearly and treat candidates with basic respect.

Behavioral Technical

Someone reached out to me on LinkedIn about a role but didn't send a job description. We talked, and they asked general questions about my background, but I had to ask what role they were interviewing me for since there was no job description. At the end of the call, they talked for a while about their recent promotion. They mentioned a technical interview but didn't know if it was live coding, conversational, or an exercise, saying they'd get back to me, which they never did. I went into the interview blind. I got to the final interview, but the interviewer's internet cut out, and they never rejoined. I had to email them to reschedule the interview for 4 days later, which surprised me given it was the final step. I also asked for feedback up to that point, but that was ignored. After the rescheduled call, they said I'd hear back soon because they wanted to hire fast. It took almost another week to hear anything, and then they said they had no update and wouldn't for another 2 weeks. This felt absurd, waiting 3+ weeks after finishing interviews for a decision. When I replied, I got an automated Out of Office message. After another 2 weeks, I asked for an update and got a call the next day saying they'd offered another candidate the job over a week ago. I asked why I wasn't told last week, and they said they were discussing another role for me. But when I asked for feedback, they said the team felt I wasn't experienced enough for the role I interviewed for. I asked why they'd consider me for another role if I wasn't experienced enough, and they couldn't give a good explanation, making me think they weren't being truthful. This whole process felt like a waste of my time. The hiring team conversations were good, but the preparation was awful, with unanswered questions and unfulfilled follow-ups. It felt like they dropped the ball on candidate experience at almost every point. It's ironic they bragged about their job performance at the start. Progyny, do better if you care about your reputation.

I had a HR screen with a recruiter in mid August. It went well and I was eager to learn more about the role from the hiring manager. I had an interview with the hiring manager a week later which I felt went well. We both asked questions, aligned on what the role would look like, and told me of next steps. I was told I would hear from the recruiter after the holiday weekend (Labor Day) when she returned from PTO to set it up. A week later with no communication I sent a follow up email to the recruiter and now almost a month later I have never heard back. I would MUCH rather be told a no than hear nothing at all, especially after the time I have already invested.. Do better Progyny.

Behavioral Technical Coding

I applied on Linkedin and got an email from the recruiter. Then I had a first call with the recruiter and the director of data engineering. After that, there was a second round, a 1-hour video interview with the team. This second round was more technical scenario-based and also for the team to get to know me better. The final round was a take-home technical assessment, which had to be completed in 2 hours. The assessment focused on MySQL queries and Python coding, with 3 questions based on a given dataset. After that, HR contacted me with the results. Overall, it was a great interview process with timely feedback.
