Had a phone call on Friday that went for about an hour and a half. It was a pretty chill back and forth conversation. They asked some questions about my work experience with bioinformatic analysis of NGS data, stats, and general computer science stuff like systems and networking. The interviewer mentioned the company is growing and has been hiring for systems engineering and bioinformatics roles. They wanted me to come to Michigan to meet the team. He said he'd check my github and get back to me in a few days. I got an email on Monday asking me to schedule an onsite interview in Michigan. I said I'm happy to, but I wanted to discuss salary first since it's a relocation to an expensive area. Haven't heard back since, which is fine. Just a heads up, they might be looking for cheap labor, so if you're serious about career growth in bioinformatics and systems, maybe this isn't the best fit.

I was recruited and had a phone interview, then I was asked for a final onsite interview in Dallas. My interview was scheduled for a Monday, and my flights and hotel were confirmed on a Thursday. The recruiter mentioned I was one of three candidates and the company's top pick. However, the very next day, just three days before my onsite, the recruiter called to cancel my interview, stating they were proceeding with someone who had more billing experience. I never got to interview face-to-face. It was devastating. I don't understand how a company can go to such lengths and then cancel the entire process. How does one go from being the top choice to having no chance?

I had a phone interview first, and then they invited me to interview in person at Progenity's Ann Arbor, MI office. It was a long drive for me, but I was really excited about the job. I interviewed with two genetic counselors, and I felt like both interviews went really well. They said they'd make a hiring decision within a week or two. After two weeks, I followed up with HR since I hadn't heard back. They mentioned that interviews were still ongoing and they'd get back to me ASAP. It's been months, and I still haven't heard anything.

It was a thorough process. Started with a screening call from the recruiter. Then had phone interviews over a couple of weeks. After that, I had an in-person interview with the manager, which also included video interviews with other team members. I also had to submit some of my previous work for review. The interviewers were really friendly, direct, and enthusiastic.
