The interview was conversational, not stressful, and felt personal. It was a smooth process overall. The background check took a while, but that's expected when working with families and children. There were some tough questions that made me pause and think.

The interview process involved two stages. First, I spoke with Jill from the agency. Then, I had a second interview with a colleague of the potential new hire at the company.

I met with the supervisor of the program and one additional person who happened to be a supervisor for another program within the agency. The supervisor had a series of questions to be asked which were read directly from a sheet of paper brought into the interview. My answers to the questions were recorded.

I applied for a few jobs and after about a month and a half, one of them called me back. First, they asked some pre-interview questions like if I had a BA, a car, insurance, any felonies, and if I was willing to take a drug test. I passed those. Then, during the actual interview, they asked me about dealing with crisis situations. Since I'm pretty young and new to the field, I didn't have a lot of direct experience, but I explained how I would handle them. They also had me do a two-part writing sample, giving me only about 5 minutes to complete it while they watched. I felt like I answered those questions well too. They mentioned they'd let me know about the job in a few days, but I received a rejection letter two weeks later.
