Technical Support Engineer
The team was polite, and after a short phone interview with some technical questions, I had an in-person interview with management. The team seemed great and made me feel relaxed throughout. Overall, it was a really positive interview experience.
- Could you tell me about typical port numbers?
- What are some storage solutions you're familiar with?
- Can you give examples of how you manage and triage different issues?
Technical Consultant
Applied through Reed and got texted by Sophie from Proact. She did a quick screen about right to work and company basics, then sent my CV to the hiring manager. I got a call back the same day from Sophie to set up an initial phone interview, and received an email with prep tips. The phone interview was about 30 mins, a mix of general and basic networking questions. A couple days later, Sophie called to say I was selected for a face-to-face interview at their Glasgow office, and I got another info email. The face-to-face had two parts: an interactive session on cloud concepts and company knowledge, followed by a short written test on attention to detail. I called Sophie the next day and was offered the job. The whole process was straightforward and Sophie was very helpful.
- Do you know what RDP stands for?
- How would you handle a situation where a colleague's poor performance is impacting your work?
- Tell me about your understanding of cloud networking.
Service Desk Team Leader
I found Proact to be generally unprofessional; I was contacted by a staff member and completed a somewhat informal phone interview after which he arranged to phone back with a date for a face to face. The in person interview was rescheduled at short notice. All of this time I only had contact though the contacts mobile phone number. The interview seemed a bit ad-hoc and I was left waiting outside the building for 5 minutes. Consisted of 2 interviewers (one of whom was the person that contacted me and ran the phone interview). The second interviewer I believe was his line manager. We went though my job history and was asked some questions relating to the role by mainly the second person. I felt at times as though I was being purposefully badgered in an attempt to (I assume) see how I react under pressure. A week after the interview I had to contact them for an update. The whole process threw up a few red flags for me.
- Can you provide a general walkthrough of your CV?
- Could you answer some questions around ITIL processes such as IM and change?
Account Manager
So I had a telephone interview first, then an interview with the Sales Manager. After that, there were some online tests, and then the final interview was with the Sales Director. I got to the final stage, and the Sales Director told me I'd hear about a job offer in a few days. But then I didn't hear anything back from the recruiter, so I had to reach out to see if I got the job. The recruiter told me I didn't get it, but didn't give much of a reason, just one sentence. It felt unprofessional because they'd made it seem like experience wasn't a big deal, but then the recruiter said I didn't have enough sales experience. They'd also said I'd get sales training from the start. I asked for more feedback since I made it to the final stage, thinking it would be good to know for future roles. But I got no reply. I left voicemails and sent emails, but still nothing. Even if they couldn't give a lot of feedback, I still expected some kind of response, because they were easy to get hold of during the process, but once I was unsuccessful, it was impossible to get in touch. I think it's really unprofessional not to give feedback and also not to even bother telling me I wasn't successful properly. Wouldn't recommend this company.
