Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PrizePicks.
Software Engineer
I applied through LinkedIn and a recruiter reached out. The first chat was with the recruiter, who was super responsive. Then I spoke with the hiring manager, another chill person, who mainly asked about my background and some scenario-based questions. Next up was a coding assessment with three algorithm problems and some multiple-choice stuff. The final round was a two-hour panel interview. They asked me about architecting a feature, which was weird since that's not my role and I don't have experience in it. It felt a bit off, especially since in real life, feature architecture is a team effort. The rest of the panel was more scenario questions. The people were all nice, but I'm not sure what they were ultimately looking for.

Software Engineer
The interview process was smooth and engaging. It started with a video call with a recruiter, then a chat with the hiring manager about my experience and the company. After that, I did a Coderbyte challenge with two LeetCode-style questions (easy to medium difficulty). The last round was a panel interview with engineering managers where I talked more about my experience and asked detailed questions. Overall, it was a very smooth and well-structured process.
- Tell me about a technical project you worked on and a challenge you encountered.
Software Engineer
This whole interview thing took a little over 3 weeks. It kicked off with a recruiter chat, then I talked to the hiring manager. After that, I had a 4-hour online tech test on CoderByte. Then, I did a panel interview with 4 engineers, and finally, a chat with the director. I got the offer the same day I spoke with the director. Even though there were several steps, it moved pretty fast, and they kept me in the loop. The recruiter was super responsive and helpful. I liked that the CoderByte assessment had questions that were like real-world tech I actually use, instead of just weird algorithms. I was a bit nervous about the panel interview with 4 engineers, but they were really nice and curious about my problem-solving approach. Overall, it was a really good experience.
- The CoderByte technical assessment involved building several small projects.
