Case Behavioral

It was a standard process with case questions. Really specific to the role. It was friendly but thorough and candid. They did a good job of explaining where the company is now and where it is going and where the role fits in and what they were looking for. The follow up was lacking on the back end which was disappointing but common.

I had a straightforward phone interview with in-depth questions about my past experience. Then, there was an in-person meeting. They told me I'd get a decision in the coming weeks. I felt my chances were around 50%, but I never heard back after the second interview. Over 3 weeks after my initial thank you letter, I sent an email asking politely if there was anything more I could do to help with the decision process and if I could expect to be hearing any type of news soon. Again, no response. It's shocking to have been treated with such little professionalism, especially for a company seeking to grow amongst strong competition. In my opinion, an applicant who earned an interview deserves some type of contact, particularly if they traveled to meet in person.

I went to this recruitment event for Pressed Juicery at an incubator. They talked about the company and the new team they wanted to build. After that, some of us were contacted for interviews. I had one the next day. The person was nice and asked a few general questions, but mostly I talked about my background without them asking much. A week later, I had a second interview, which was actually two interviews. The first one was with an executive, and it was pretty much the same as the first interview. They still didn't ask many specific questions about my skills, and I felt like they didn't really know what a UI/UX designer does. The second interview was with a development engineer lead, and that went much better. They asked a lot about my experience, my design knowledge, their tech stack, and how I'd work with developers. Each interview was less than 30 minutes. I didn't hear back for weeks, so I reached out on LinkedIn. A few days later, they told me they weren't hiring for that role anymore and decided to hire only developers. It felt like a waste of time, and it was clear they didn't understand what they needed for the team.

I had a phone interview that I thought went well, and then I was scheduled for a second in-person interview. Since the job is for a new location that hasn't been built yet, I was told to meet at the closest location, which was an hour away. It was a lot of effort for me to get there, needing a babysitter and driving all that way just for the interview. The interview itself was about an hour long and felt intimidating. They asked for a few examples for every question, which was uncomfortable. I was told I'd hear back in 4 days about next steps, but I never did. I even tried emailing the original contact, but got no response. Experiencing this makes me understand the bad reviews.
