First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Prescient Security.
Salesforce Administrator
The management was really unorganized. I had interviews with two managers. One of them contacted me the day before the interview through the recruiter to reschedule. The other manager also mentioned she was on holiday and rescheduled. The final step was supposed to be with the CEO. But the CEO didn't even show up for the interview! I waited for 30 minutes and then got an email saying they needed to reschedule, but they didn't give me a new date. It was incredibly disrespectful. Just because you're a CEO doesn't mean you can treat people like that!
- What would you do if you were asked to perform a task in Salesforce that you felt was wrong?
Penetration Tester
The whole thing took like 6 weeks, which is a lot. But it felt fair. I talked to a recruiting firm a bunch, then had three interviews with Prescient and did this one practical test. First up was an intro tech call with some senior folks at Prescient, went for about an hour. After that, they sent over a web assessment, and I had a week to wrap it up. Then, I had to present my findings back to the same senior person and the director of penetration testing, another hour-long call. I think I did okay on the practical part, but the senior guy's questions felt kinda meh. The director had to leave early, so he didn't get to ask anything. The fourth interview was with the director, he seemed pretty cool and smart. Seemed like he was mostly checking if I'd fit in with the team. So yeah, six weeks later, no job. They said it was because of some experience I mentioned way back at the start, which wasn't a problem then. Honestly, companies need to get over not giving people a hard 'no' sooner. It's a waste of weeks and hours on tests when they already know. I'm not even sure they were really interested in me, or if I was just being used to see what else is out there. Big lesson learned: make sure they're actually interested, it's legit, you're not just spinning your wheels, and check that you're not spinning your wheels along the way.
- Are you technically proficient in your field, and do you align with the company culture?
- Could you share an accomplishment you're proud of that is outside the realm of cybersecurity?
- What is a quality that your friends would say you possess, where they would naturally seek your help?
Account Executive
I was really excited to join this team, and they were super interested in me too. I made it all the way to the last round, which was supposed to be with the CEO, my 4th interview. He was late, then he emailed to reschedule. We set it up again for two weeks later. But just a few days before that, he canceled again last minute and emailed to say the job was filled. They didn't even sign off properly, just an email with no period or thank you. I've never seen anything so unprofessional, I can't believe someone would treat people like that. 10/10 would not recommend.
- Are you able to manage a high volume of work?
Auditor
Had two phone interviews, one with a co-founder and another with the Head of the Ethical Hacking division. They asked straightforward questions, nothing too difficult. Having an auditing background is a plus.
- How would you guide a client in determining which controls are relevant or not?
