This was pretty much the worst and most biased interview I've ever had. It was basically just a test taken over video, with a bunch of questions asking to match things like belts to their names. At one point, I got frustrated, and the interviewer mentioned that I'd need to know this stuff if I were going to be an engineer on the team. I told them that while I didn't know the names of all the belts and gears offhand, I'd be happy to learn if I got the chance. They barely discussed my actual abilities or experience.

Precor's interview process is quite lengthy and demanding. It typically involves multiple phone interviews (around 3-4) followed by a full day of in-person meetings at their office. I had two phone interviews for this role. The first one was a basic screening. The second interview was an hour-long conversation focusing on project management methodologies and tools. My project management certification is a bit dated, so I reviewed the tools beforehand, which was beneficial. Although it wasn't overly formal, it was a pleasant discussion about business challenges. I wasn't initially qualified, but my strong personal letter earned me an interview. It was a positive experience, though I regret not receiving feedback on why I wasn't selected.

I had a phone screen with the recruiter, then another phone screen with the hiring manager, and then was invited for an in-person interview. Before that, I did a take-home assessment that took a few hours and included math and vocabulary questions, personality assessments, and a lot of word problems. The in-person interview was all day and included a boxed lunch. It was a mix of panel and individual interviews with various staff members, including peers and people who would report to me. They asked a lot of behavioral questions from a script and went into extreme detail about my past work, making it clear that to succeed at Precor, you need to be very hands-on. The people were nice but a bit odd, and one person seemed condescending and tried to trick me. The facility was smaller and more spread out than I expected across several buildings. There was no cafe, and the gym was small with mostly cardio equipment.

I networked a lot with the senior management and learned about the position. Then I continued to network with the senior management. I drove up to the company for a 3 hours 1st round interview. I drove up to the company for another 5 hours 2nd round interview. The interviewing process was pleasant. I felt I was valued as a participant and they were genuinely interested in my experience, passion, and knowledge towards the business and company.
