First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pratt Industries.
Paper Machine Operator
The interview was pretty chill, but there were more people on the panel than I expected, like 7 of them including the HR Manager. They all had my resume and asked me some basic questions about my strengths, weaknesses, hobbies, and teamwork skills. After the interview, we all shook hands again, and I made a joke about not remembering everyone's names but pointing out Kevin. Someone replied it was all I needed to remember for now. Then Kevin asked if I had time for a plant tour, which I accepted. One of the panel members gave me the tour. He took me back to Kevin's office, and that was pretty much it. Kevin seemed busy and didn't say much, but he did answer a few questions I had. The tour guide talked up the perks of working there. I sent a thank you message to the HR Manager a few hours later, and he said he'd check with the team and keep me updated. No offer immediately after, it was just yesterday, so they likely have more steps before the next part of the hiring process.

Program Manager
The hiring manager hit me up directly cuz I didn't apply to this job. We set up a call and from the jump, the hiring manager was complaining about his job/the company. He def wasn't having a good day, and while I get that, it's not a good look for a candidate. It made me not interested in the company. When he talked more about the job, it sounded like they hadn't really figured out what they wanted. The role description was fuzzy, and it seemed like there wasn't much support for the position. The whole work vibe felt depressing. They did say it's a 5 days a week in office job in Cincinnati, with not much flexibility on work hours. The pay was also on the lower side compared to other places. All in all, the interview left a bad taste in my mouth and I decided not to move forward.
- Can you walk me through a program you managed from beginning to end?
- What experience do you have managing displays?
- Would working in the office 5 days a week be a deal breaker for you?
Shipping Supervisor
I had 3 interviews for the Third Shift Shipping Supervisor position. The first was with the Shipping Manager and it went great. I felt good about my chances. About a week later, I had a second interview scheduled with the HR and Plant Managers. However, I only ended up meeting with the HR manager because the Plant Manager was out of town. I was called in a third time to finally meet with the Plant Manager. During this last interview, I was interviewed by the Safety Manager and another manager. The safety manager was professional and nice, but the other manager was very rude. He was dismissive, crossed his arms, and tried to belittle me for leaving my previous job, questioning my experience despite my 12+ years there, where I'd been promoted to Receiving Supervisor. It was confusing since my experience was supposedly what drew them to my application. He was unprofessional and judgmental. About a month after this, I received an email saying I didn't get the job, which was fine as I had already accepted another offer. The whole process was too long and the interviewing experience, particularly with the rude manager, was negative.

Sales Representative
The GM and Regional Sales Manager invited me to dinner to assess my ability to handle the social aspects of the business that Pratt values. They inquired about my past experiences and future aspirations. They also shared insights into the company and their ideal candidate profile. Given the GM's familiarity with my background, this interview primarily focused on evaluating my personality and my capacity to engage with high-level personnel.
- Can you tell me about your experience in this industry?
