You start by submitting your resume, cover letter, or portfolio, which recruiters or automated systems will screen for basic qualifications. Then, there's a short recruiter/HR screening call (15–30 minutes) via phone or video to confirm your background, salary expectations, motivation, and availability; it's not usually technical. The first-round interview, often with a hiring manager or team member, assesses your experience, skills, problem-solving approach, and culture fit, possibly including behavioral questions like “Tell me about a time when…”. If applicable, there might be a skills assessment or technical test, such as a coding test, writing task, case study, or role-specific assignment, which could happen before or after the first-round interview. Finally, second-round or panel interviews involve multiple team members or stakeholders to deeply evaluate your technical strengths, collaboration and communication skills, and how you handle challenges, often with scenario-based questions or discussions of your prior work.

I noticed they were hiring, so I called to ask if dropping off an application in person was okay in addition to applying online. They told me to just apply online. I did that and got a call three business days later to come in for an interview. I went in the next day, and the day after that, I got offered the job. The interview was pretty typical for a sales associate, but it was really casual and conversational. They didn't seem rushed and answered all my questions informatively. They were upfront about what to expect when I came in - 'no need to bring in resume, we have it' - and also about advancement, benefits, and pay. The starting pay wasn't negotiable.

I was contacted by an internal recruiter for a 30-minute initial phone interview. The recruiter didn't seem to know much about the specific role, only that it involved ensuring retailers and partners had what they needed for their stores, communicating retailer needs to the sales and marketing departments, and partnering with retail partners. She wasn't very personable, making the conversation awkward, and at one point, I thought she had hung up due to the silence. She appeared to be following a checklist, asking questions I had already addressed in previous answers. Towards the end, she didn't offer to let me ask questions, so I had to interrupt her. Even then, she couldn't answer any of my questions. Based on how poorly it went, I knew I wouldn't get a second interview. It felt like I was talking to a wall and intentionally set up to fail.

Behavioral Other

The interview process was pretty smooth overall. The manager was really good at asking the right questions and was thorough without being discriminatory. The hiring part took a while and wasn't the most exciting. There were two days of paperwork and computer training. The staff are all really nice and friendly. The training itself isn't structured at all, so you'll mostly be learning as you go and will make mistakes if you don't ask questions often. Management isn't great with communication, though.
