I worked with a temp agency. A recruiter talked to me about the job, then I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. A few weeks later, during the holidays, I met the hiring manager and two coworkers. It felt like it went well and they liked me. Then about a week later, I had a third interview with the Sales Director, I think, to get his input. It was super awkward; the hiring manager seemed embarrassed for me. They asked me weird questions like 'What is the capital of Mississippi?' and 'Did you ever sing Karaoke?' It felt like a waste of my time and a mockery. I took a half day off work for it. I still see the job posting after almost 5 months.

Back in 2011, things were different with the VP of Sales, and the process has evolved. But for sales jobs, some parts stay the same. Sales interviews are usually REALLY long, sometimes taking over 3 months and 4-5 interviews for an entry-level role. They really try to mess with you or ask weird questions to see how you handle pressure. If you're a guy and wear a suit, make sure it's spotless; I've seen sales managers leave because of a small issue like a collar being up. The whole thing is just long and kind of over the top.

The staff greeted me warmly. The first interview was with the Program Manager and two other office members who also asked questions. The second interview involved more questions and a tour of the program space. It was a pleasant and straightforward process. The interviews made me feel comfortable and they were interested in my background and how I could help the organization.

Had two rounds. The first was a 30min chat with HR. Then, a second 30min round with the Salesforce Analytics Head. Also got a take-home exercise. I kept chasing the recruiting team, but ended up getting ghosted.
