First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PPM America.
Administrative Assistant
I had a quick 15 minute call first to screen me. After that, I went in for two rounds of in-office interviews. There were three interviewers in each of those rounds, and I talked with each of them for about 20 minutes.
- Can you tell me about the most challenging situation you've encountered in your career?
Project Manager
It was pretty rigorous with a lot of back and forth. They really dug into my CV, asking for specific examples of everything I'd done in each past role. I had to provide figures and details about problems I faced and how I solved them.
- Can you elaborate on your specific contributions and duties at your previous role in company X?
Intern
The interview process was great, not overly technical. I really enjoyed my time interviewing with them. The interviewers were all very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in having me join their team.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Could you guide me through your resume?
Trading Assistant
I spoke with four people, all with different levels of experience. Since it's a fixed income company, they asked a lot about bonds. Everyone was really nice. Mostly they wanted to know about my background and past jobs. The trading floor is super busy. Like, if you're in trading, you gotta be there at 6 AM to start at 6:30 and you don't leave until 5 PM. You eat lunch in the office, so you're basically always in the building. The assistant role means doing whatever, even running random errands. There's no clear path for moving up, so you might get lucky and a trading spot opens, but until then, you're the assistant doing anything. So, while there were good things about the job, there were also downsides. It would need a specific kind of person to do well. PPM is a big deal in this industry. It's a good company, but I'd really think hard before taking a job like this.
- What's your motivation for getting into trading?
- Can you explain why you're interested in a trading career?
