The scheduled interviewer/hiring manager didn't show up for the video interview at 7 am, even though I tried to accommodate their US time zone. A junior staff member ended up doing the interview instead. They seemed unprepared, just reading my CV on the spot and struggled to fill the 30 minutes with good questions. When I asked about the role, their answers were weak, and they cut the interview short saying they had to rush to another meeting, leaving me without good answers. No one followed up, and the hiring manager never apologized or explained their absence. It felt like a total lack of respect.

The interview process involved 5 separate sessions with various people, which was quite time-consuming. They promised to cover my flight expenses for the interview, but the finance team at PI didn't reimburse the full amount on time. Thankfully, the HR team stepped in and sorted it out, though there seemed to be some internal miscommunication or misunderstandings within their team.

I applied for the role in Cambridge, UK. First, I had a call with the senior design manager, which included general and technical questions. Then, I had a second technical interview with the same manager. After about 3 weeks, I interviewed with HR, who seemed new and just repeated the job ad. The hiring process then became strange. I heard nothing for 2 weeks, and after asking, they said they were still interviewing others and would update me soon. Two more weeks passed with no update. I inquired again, and they promised a decision by mid-April. It's now mid-May, and there's still no decision. I feel they weren't serious about hiring and I'm unsure if the position even exists. It feels like a waste of time.

Behavioral Technical

It's a 2-level interview process. First, you'll talk with the manager, which is less technical. Then, you'll have a discussion with colleagues where you'll talk in-depth about power supply topologies and design. Good engineers will find it relatively easy. When the questions get more challenging, remember to get back to basics. If you claim you've done something in the past, be ready to provide evidence.
