Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at POWER Engineers.
Intern
I started at a college career fair, met some nice employees who told me about POWER and I gave them my resume and applied online. About three months later, I was told to apply for a position in a different location because the original one I wanted was filled. A phone interview was set up with the recruiter, where they asked typical interview questions and told me about the POWER culture. A couple of weeks later, an onsite interview was set up. They offered to fly me to the office and pay for my rental car and hotel. The interview was more about them getting to know me and how I'd fit with their work atmosphere. I talked with a lot of employees during the interview and got a good feel for the work environment.
- Can you share an experience where you collaborated with a team to resolve an issue?
- Which of your coursework experiences have prepared you for this role?
Intern
I got an Intern position in Substation Physical Design. I applied to a few Intern roles with POWER about a month before the interview and chatted with someone about the company and jobs early on. I reached out to them a week before our University's Recruitment Fair to say I was interested. After we talked at the fair, I followed up a week later and they invited me to the office for an interview. It was super chill and conversational. They talked a lot about the work, showed me some project plans, and then offered me the internship. They were nice and direct. Overall, a great experience.
- Can you estimate your hours of experience using AutoCAD?
Intern
My screening interview was short, basic behavioral questions, and they asked about my living accommodations, location, and when I would be available to work. Going in, I recommend having good answers for questions like biggest weakness, describe a time that you accomplished something, etc.
- What is your biggest weakness, according to your employer?
