I submitted my CV on Indeed and got an email in 2 days for a telephone interview. It went well and the interviewer, Lynette, was great. I then had a second interview via video call with the Area Manager, Ken, who also made me feel comfortable. The next stage was a floor walk with the Area Manager, which also included a mystery shop analysis. The entire process was well-organized and the people I interacted with were fantastic.

My interview was in December 2019. It started with some generic behavioral questions. Then, I was given a basic excel spreadsheet with sales data for a region and asked to understand it, with 30 minutes allocated (though 10 was enough). Following that, I had to do a basic store walk and give feedback on how to improve standards and sales, and the interviewer seemed to think it was an issue that I wasn't a regular Poundland customer. The interviewer was friendly. I was told I'd hear back within a week, but after following up multiple times over six months, I still haven't heard anything. Attending interviews has a cost, and I spent a significant amount of time preparing and attending. While I understand delays happen and I might not have been the right fit, the company's process left a lasting impression.

I had a phone interview that lasted about 30 minutes. The interviewer wasn't very nice. When I asked about salary, if it was more than what they offered, I got the vibe it was a no-go. They asked questions about things I wouldn't know, like our store's KPIs, and then used that as a reason to say I wasn't successful. They also said they'd send follow-up info about the interview, but never did.
