I had a pleasant conversation with the recruiter. In the end, they decided to move forward with a candidate who had more e-commerce background, which I get. It seemed like I had all the required skills, including retail experience.

I applied online and heard back from a recruiter via email. They sent me a link for a one-way video interview. It was super fast, only 4 questions and about 5 minutes total. The intro video warned about a time limit to review before recording, but there wasn't actually a prep time limit once the question appeared. Each question had a 1-2 minute time limit. It's weird because it's not really an interview, no chance to ask questions or really get into your background. I followed up and the recruiter said they went with others who had more digital marketing experience, which is funny because I kept seeing ads for them everywhere after visiting their site. Also, not sure how they judged my digital marketing experience without talking to me. Their diversity page also seems off based on the company photo. Not too much time wasted, just emails and 5 minutes of recording myself. It was a really impersonal experience.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process had five rounds: first a recruiter screen, then an interview with the VP, followed by the hiring manager. The final round was split into two parts: the first involved a presentation to a second manager and the VP. The second part, aimed at assessing cultural fit and diversity, was with a third manager and someone from compliance. They emphasized they were looking for a specific skill their team lacked and that my extensive experience made me stand out. My 10+ years in martech and fintech were more important than direct ecomm experience. They repeatedly asked if I had any hesitations about being hired, to which I always said no. The follow-up email was quite condescending and contradicted much of what was discussed over the month-long process.
