Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Portland Communications.
Intern
Applied via the internal platform. Got a test via email, which involved drafting an email to a client with given info. Then had a first interview with basic questions about EU policy and my past work, interviewed by two senior consultants. Second interview had similar questions, but with a different consultant and a director.
- Can you briefly explain the EU legislative process?
- Please discuss one or two EU policy files you are familiar with and their associated issues.
Intern
You have 1 minute to prepare your answer and 1 minute to record it. Make sure to prepare anecdotes in advance and be ready to discuss current events. Use Google Chrome for the interview. I was asked 3 questions.
- Can you share a current news item from the finance world?
Intern
It was good, there were 2 rounds. They asked me about my education, leadership experience, and how I can contribute to the team. They also asked me things from my resume, like my skills. Overall, a positive experience.
