Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Manager
It was very by the book, with a series of three questions. The interview panel, consisting of three people, was not very personable. The whole interview lasted about 45 minutes. I'm not sure how I did because it felt very robotic and they lacked people skills. I had to ask about the timeline for candidate selection, and they mentioned they were in the early stages of interviewing. So now I'm just waiting. #fingerscrossed
- Can you tell me about the number of people you've managed in your daily operations?
Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward. Mostly behavioral questions, but they did touch on the technical aspects mentioned in my resume. I got contacted by them about a month after I applied. During the interview, they mostly asked about my qualifications and then explained the job and the role itself. They asked a lot of questions about workplace scenarios.
- Given a very large dataset, what would be your approach to processing it?
Manager
Ridiculously rigid process of sticking to a behavioral interview script. If you are thinking of working here, research behavioral type interviews. Alot of technical abilities are not given a chance to preview with this process.
- Can you describe a past instance where you experienced a conflict with a coworker and outline the steps you took to resolve it?
