The interview included a take-home test which took about an hour and was pretty straightforward, though I didn't get any feedback on it. The in-person part was chill and conversational, where I discussed my resume.

The interview process started off great, but then when it was time to review the edited test images, things took a turn. The interviewer felt the edits weren't up to par, specifically mentioning that wrinkles weren't removed sufficiently. However, the interviewer also acknowledged that further editing to remove these wrinkles could negatively impact the photograph. The interviewer then stated that while I'm a talented photographer, they were looking for someone who could immediately excel at editing, suggesting I wasn't that person and that the company primarily needed commercial skills rather than creative ones. This felt like an insult, especially considering my three years of experience in editing, with some work even being exhibited and awarded. The most offensive part was the interviewer's condescending remark that if I didn't hear back within two weeks, I should assume I wasn't selected, despite the initial praise of my skills. While POP Fit claims to value diversity, equity, and inclusion, this experience suggests otherwise, with candidates being belittled and not given a fair chance to demonstrate their editing capabilities.

I applied on Indeed and was quickly invited for an interview. I passed that and then had a test, followed by an offer, all within a week. They move fast if they like you, so you don't have to wait around.

The interview process was a bit odd from the start. I had to wait outside for a while before anyone answered the door. One of the interviewers made a comment to the other that sounded like 'I told you so' about me, which was confusing and felt like an insult. The interview itself involved going over my resume, some usual interview questions, and a good number of hypothetical situation questions. After it ended, the way they acted was really strange. They were completely silent while walking me back to the entrance and didn't even say goodbye when I left. I never heard back from them about whether I got the job, and only found out I wasn't selected when the posting was removed. It felt pretty unprofessional and weird overall.

  • What would you do in this hypothetical situation?
