First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at POOLCORP.
Sales Associate
I had a phone call first and then an in-person meeting. It was pretty straightforward. The interviewer was really friendly and enthusiastic. He explained the job responsibilities and my daily tasks.
- Tell me about a difficult situation you faced and how you dealt with it.
Intern
The interviewer was really nice and placed me in the position that was the best fit. They gave me a super detailed explanation of what I would be doing on a daily basis. The process had several steps including a screening, a phone call, and a zoom interview. After all that, a decision was made.
- Can you tell me about one of your strengths?
Buyer
I got an email to set up a Teams video call interview. I had the interview with the hiring manager on Teams. They mentioned I was one of three people being considered. I never heard back after the interview, which I thought was unprofessional given they said I would. Even though I knew after the interview I didn't want the job, they told me if you care about "titles" this isn't the company for you because you rarely get promoted. It was surprising given this is their headquarters.
- Can you describe your negotiating style?
- What is your work setup like at home?
Manager Trainee
It starts off with a quick phone call to go over your background and your motivation for the role. They'll also go over the position and the MIT program, and you can ask them anything. Then, there's a video interview that you should set up beforehand to make sure everything works. My audio had issues when she first called. This interview is more detailed, with personal and situational questions, and it's about an hour long. Be ready with more questions that show you've researched the company and program well. The last step is an in-person interview, which I didn't get to.
- Can you share your proudest life accomplishment?
- Describe a time you demonstrated leadership in class or at work.
- Tell me about a time you improved a process to replace an old one and boosted efficiency.
