First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Polytechnic Institute of NYU.
Graduate Assistant
I emailed the professor about my undergrad experience and attached my resume. Jonathan replied fast, asking if I was free for an interview the next day. Yang conducted mock tech interviews on linked lists, graphs, and more. The first question was reversing a linked list. Finally, he asked about TCP/IP fundamentals.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your motivation for this GA role?
- Could you demonstrate how to reverse a single linked list?
- What is an object in the Java programming language?
Graduate Assistant
It's an on-campus job, and I thought it would be a quick, general chat. But it turned out to be a full-on professional interview. They asked only behavioral questions because the job involves office assistant duties. So, there were questions about customer service, being nice and patient with visitors. They also threw in a couple of case questions that were customer service-related.
- What would you do first if you had three tasks at once: a guest arriving, the phone ringing, and your manager asking for something?
Graduate Assistant
It was a one-on-one interview.
- Can you walk me through your background and any previous experience you have?
