First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Polly.
Electronic Engineer
The interview started with introductions, then they asked about my previous work and responsibilities. They also inquired about my favorite sports, my future aspirations, and my potential long-term commitment to the company.
- Can you tell me about your past work and the specific areas you were responsible for?
- What are your favorite sports?
- What are your plans for the future?
Account Executive
Had 6 interviews, but it was quick. Started with a recruiter, then the hiring manager, followed by a panel interview with another account executive where I had to give a presentation. Then met with the production manager and finished with HR.
- Can you tell me about a project that you're particularly proud of?
Strategic Account Manager
I had an initial chat with the recruiter, but they didn't seem to know much about how dealerships work, their KPIs, or KDMs, so I spent a lot of time explaining that to them. Then, I moved on to the hiring manager, who was pretty upfront that I'd be walking into a challenging situation and would have to build things from scratch. While I liked the product itself, I felt it either needed a major overhaul or should be scrapped because auto dealerships aren't using it widely, likely because it doesn't significantly boost their profits like other options. Given the compensation, the workload ahead, and my doubts about the product, I decided to withdraw my application after the second interview.
- Can you explain how your skills align with this role?
- Describe how and to whom you would market this product.
Software Engineer
I thought this job paid less than others I was looking at, but it had way more technical interview questions and assessments. The first screening was mostly technical, with a little behavioral. Then they sent a technical assessment about unit tests, even though I told them I didn't have much experience writing them. I didn't finish the assessment because I got better offers from other companies by then. Honestly, if the pay isn't great, the interviews shouldn't be so tough. I didn't really get a sense of the company culture or what was in it for me, so it wasn't a good fit.
- Can you explain what a RESTful API is to someone who isn't technical?
- What is a unit test, and why is it important?
