This was one of the best interview experiences I’ve ever had. Everyone I talked to was genuine and treated me with respect. I had initially applied for a different role, but the recruiter happily discussed other opportunities with me and recommended me for this one. The interview was thorough, starting with phone calls and a Skype design challenge. It then moved to an on-site interview where I continued the design exercise and met the team to assess cultural fit. About a week after the on-site, the recruiter followed up for a brief chat. They decided to proceed with other candidates but provided excellent feedback. Throughout the process, I never received automated emails or calls; it felt very human. Even without an offer, interviewing here showed me how recruiting should be done.

I had a phone screen where they asked standard questions and then I got to ask mine. Then I did a remote technical challenge. I had to look at the product and do a challenge with someone from the team on a video call. I don't usually like challenges that focus on the actual product instead of a theoretical problem. This challenge was pretty easy even without knowing much about the product, though I didn't think it was appropriate for a few reasons. They promised me money for the challenge but I never got it, which is why the review is bad.

So, the interview process at Poll Everywhere was really cool and human, felt super respectful and like they cared about me as a person. It really showed their team culture. I had to drop out early for personal reasons, but I would've totally joined if they'd offered. The whole thing would've taken about 2.5 weeks. I applied on 11/10/2017 and heard back on 11/13/2017. There were 4 steps: a recruiter phone screen, a short video design challenge with the whole team, an onsite, and then meeting with key people like the CEO. The design challenge was fair for the time, well thought out, and well run. It felt like they included me as part of the team while I worked on it. They even used the same challenge for the onsite, which made it easier to pick up where I left off and show my solution. About 2 months later (01/31/2018), I got a swag bag and gift card as a thank you for my time on the challenge. Big thanks to the team for chatting, understanding, and evaluating me.
