First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Polaris.
Design Engineer
Got contacted by the hiring manager on LinkedIn. He set up a virtual meeting with himself and an HR person. After that, they scheduled me for an on-site interview. Coordinating the on-site was a bit slow because my emails kept landing in their junk folder, no matter who I emailed at Polaris. But they were still nice and quick to respond. The on-site involved a tour of the place, a presentation, and then a panel interview with the hiring manager and a manufacturing engineer. The HR person couldn't make it, so they missed that. They didn't really grill me with tough questions, just asked about my background. I guess they weren't totally sure what they needed. It felt like they were leaning towards someone more senior after it was done. The job posting even changed to 'Sr. Design Engineer' a few weeks later. The interview process itself went okay. Everyone was friendly and responsive leading up to it. Even though they said they'd let me know by the end of the next week, they made a decision pretty fast – by the next day. I got an automated email saying they passed on my application. It felt a little abrupt after all the friendly chats.
- Can you tell me what you're seeking in your next position?
- Describe the most complex design project you've been involved with and explain the reasons for its complexity.
Engineer
Someone from recruiting reached out about a job I wasn't interested in. I mentioned I saw other jobs that were a better fit, so they connected me with another recruiter. I had a 30-45 minute call with that recruiter. A day or so later, I got an email to schedule a phone interview with a lead engineer in the relevant department. That was another 30-45 minute phone call. It wasn't super technical, mostly about my past work and experience. The interviewer wanted me to come in for an in-person interview, and the recruiter was supposed to set it up. That was the last I heard from them, over a month ago. I tried following up multiple times via phone and email, but never heard back. Not the best experience, honestly.
- How would your engineering experience, unrelated to ATVs, be applicable to Polaris?
Senior Engineer
It started with a technical round where I discussed my background and technical skills with a corporate engineer and their Indian counterpart. If they felt it was necessary, there would be a second round with the hiring manager. After that, there was an HR round to talk about salary and relocation if needed.
- Tell me about yourself and your technical capabilities/skills.
- Could you elaborate on your previous role and how you handle daily tasks?
