First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Points of Light.
Intern
The interview experience was quite positive. The interviewers were friendly and approachable, making the process comfortable. Two interviewers conducted the session, focusing on understanding me through conversation rather than posing difficult questions.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- Have you encountered situations like XYZ before?
- How would you handle a situation like the one described?
Communications
The interview process was easy and informal. The interviewer was very friendly and the turnaround time was quick. Communication was great; even though I was late due to parking issues in DC, they were understanding. The application itself was straightforward, with a timely response from the company. They seemed relaxed and clear about the steps involved.
- What makes you interested in this role?
Manager
It's a long process, really long. This place struggles to decide on hires. They're too focused on whether you fit the culture. Because of this, they often end up hiring people who've worked here before, even when they really need new perspectives. Plan for this to take months, no matter the role. And expect to be interviewed back-to-back by multiple people. If you do get hired, the people you'll be working with are mostly great. Really nice folks.
- Can you share some of your best ideas?
- Describe your work style.
- Assess your cultural fit.
VP Research
My first step was a 30-minute chat with the HR recruiter/specialist at Point of Light. She was really nice and relaxed, and I thought the conversation went great. I then had to wait two weeks to get an update.
- What motivated you to apply for this role?
