The staff seemed nice and the office was cool. I felt fairly confident with my interview until they asked me to draw a blueprint of my childhood home. Since additions had been made, the shape was awkward. When I finished, they looked at each other and one of them shook their head 'no'. I still ended up getting a call back, but I'd already taken a job from another company.

Behavioral Other

It was a really great interview experience, the company cares a lot about customers and finding good people, and they make the interview process itself really good too. Everyone was prepared and made me feel like a VIP. Each person talked about company values and mission and let me ask questions. There was no waiting around, and moving between interviewers was smooth. A cool thing was an office tour and meeting people and seeing the tech. I got an offer and even though I had other offers with more money and less effort, I accepted this job. It's been a week and I love it here, the people are smart and passionate, it feels like a family. Oh, and every day they play a random song over the speakers, which is a unique company thing that makes it feel like home now.

The interview process was pretty standard, but very positive. I had an initial phone screen with the manager of the group, who was extremely professional and yet personable. We discussed my background, what the company did and what DevOps was tasked with, the technologies they used, etc. After the phone screen, I was invited for an onsite interview. After a tour of the office and explanation of functional areas, I briefly interviewed with the manager again, two of the team members, a veteran developer from another group, and the VP of engineering. I also had a brief sort of culture/fit interview lunch with a systems engineer who had been with the company for a while. Most of the discussion centered around my experience, with some technical digging, behavioral questions, and expectations setting about the responsibility and cadence of the org.

The coordination between interviewers was bad. The people interviewing didn't seem to have any experience or training in interviewing, though some were definitely better than others. When the interviewers weren't great, they didn't seem to know much about software and it was hard to have a conversation to learn about working at Point Inside.
