First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PMI.
Graduate Trainee
The interview uses hirevue, and you can answer easily if you use the STAR method. Try to understand all the questions and you will be able to answer them. Each question only takes 3 minutes, which is plenty of time to answer. Be prepared.
- Tell me about a difficult situation you faced and how you handled it.
Account Manager
It was about a 3 step interview process. Every interview I had was more of a conversation than a traditional interview. Everyone was so friendly and personable, which put any nerves I had at ease. I would say this was the best and seamless interview process I've ever experienced!
- What motivated you to apply to PMI?
- Describe a situation where you made an error and explain how you addressed it.
- How do you manage your time effectively when juggling multiple projects?
Process Engineer
The interview itself went fine, but there was a delay in getting a response. I sent a follow-up email and was told they had a good impression but the process was slow due to the holidays. Two weeks later, I was rejected because other candidates had more relevant experience. It felt like a joke; why invite candidates with irrelevant experience when there are others with relevant experience? It seems like a waste of time. Why tell me everything was okay unofficially and then waste another two weeks before sending a rejection? These people don't respect potential employees and I can only imagine how they treat current staff. Very disappointed.
- Can you describe the most significant failure in your career?
- What feedback would your former manager give you regarding your future career on your last day?
- What would your former colleagues say about you during your farewell dinner?
Digital Marketing Management Trainee
After applying, I had to complete a 20-question personality test on the PMI website. It basically checks if you're a good fit for PMI and your work style. The planning for the trainee program's application phase is really well-organized. When I was invited for an interview, they already told me the whole process and the date for the potential assessment center, so I could plan for it. This way, I always knew how long I'd have to wait for a response and what the next step was. The introductory interview was via Microsoft Teams, which was great because of Corona. It was a very friendly and pleasant conversation with the recruiter:) The interview lasted about 30-45 minutes. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the next round, but they called me to let me know, which is not something you can take for granted these days and is really appreciated!:)
- Tell us a bit about yourself.
- What are your top 3 strengths?
- Why do you think you're the right candidate for this role and what experience do you have?
