First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PLUS Communications.
Director, Public Affairs
I had an initial call with a screener, and after that, there was a 90-minute writing test where I had to write an op-ed and also edit one. The screener call was pretty straightforward, and the op-ed topic was easy to grasp and actually enjoyable to write.
- What are your reasons for wanting to work at Plus?
- Why are you interested in a bipartisan firm?
Executive Assistant
The interview process kicked off with a brief 10-minute phone screen. About two weeks later, I was contacted again, having been selected for the next stage. This second round involved a 30-minute Zoom call with a partner, which felt quite straightforward and relaxed. At the end of that meeting, I was invited to a third interview. This third round took place in person at the office two weeks after the Zoom call. In this meeting, I spoke with a partner, the managing partner, and HR. I was informed I'd get a response the following week, but I never heard back. The entire process spanned about six weeks. After three rounds, I would have at least expected a courtesy rejection email, rather than being ghosted. It was quite disappointing given how interested I was in the role.
- Tell me about a significant mistake you made in your professional life and its outcome.
Digital Associate
I applied and got contacted for a quick phone interview. It was super short, under 10 mins. The questions felt like a survey rather than a conversation. When I asked about work/life balance, it was obvious they have none, implying I'd be a 'bad fit' for not wanting to sacrifice my well-being with long evenings and weekends. Definitely a hard pass for me; I won't be waiting for a second interview and I'm not interested in what would probably be a low offer. Just a heads up, how you interview reflects the company. Being curt and making a candidate feel bad about asking about work/life balance shows you don't get how important it is to sell the opportunity.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Associate
I applied on LinkedIn and got contacted for a phone interview about a week later. It was super short, like 5 minutes. Then, a week after that, they emailed me to come in for an in-person interview where I met with 3-4 people. After that, they gave me a writing test which was actually fun and pretty easy. A few days later, I had to go back to meet with a partner. I got the offer a week after that.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What motivates your interest in our company?
- What draws you to this specific role?
