First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Plivo.
Product Operations Analyst
The interview process started with a round focusing on basic math, Excel proficiency, and communication abilities. This was followed by an assignment where I had to analyze a provided dataset. The third round involved presenting my assignment findings and answering technical questions related to my resume, APIs, and data comprehension, including problem-solving scenarios. The final round was an HR interview.
- Can you explain how an API functions to a five-year-old?
- Can you explain how an API functions in a way a five-year-old can understand?
Product Manager
I went through a really long interview process for Plivo, which had 6 rounds and a big take-home assignment. I told them what I wanted for compensation early on, but it seemed like they didn't really consider it. The take-home took at least 3 days. After I talked to the hiring manager, founder, and department heads, HR talked to me about salary. The offer was much lower than I expected, even though I was upfront about my expectations. The whole thing took 2 months, which was super annoying. You should be careful applying here, they seem more focused on lowballing people than respecting their time and what they want. Makes you wonder about the company culture.
- Can you discuss your previous work experience?
- Please complete the assigned take-home project.
Design Manager
The interview process had 3 rounds: an initial round, an assignment round, and a face-to-face meeting. The whole thing took about 3 weeks. I got positive feedback after the assignment, but after the face-to-face, which the HR said was just a casual chat and the manager met me at a cafe, they told me I wasn't a good fit. That's fine, but if I wasn't a fit, why not tell me sooner, like right after the assignment?
- Can you describe your design process?
- Could you share details about your previous design experience?
Software Engineer
So I interviewed for an SDE-1 FullStack position and it had 5 rounds. The first was a 20-minute chat about my projects and some scenario-based questions like 'Why are you looking to switch?' and 'Tell me about a tough project challenge.' It was resume-based. Round 2 was backend-focused, where they asked me to describe a project and then gave me a medium DSA problem using stacks, with no follow-up questions on the project description. Round 3 was frontend, involving JS output questions and building a UI with vanilla JS based on a provided diagram. The 4th round was with the Hiring Manager, where we went deep into my work experience at my current company, with lots of questions about projects, technologies, system scaling, and again, project challenges and reasons for looking for a change. Finally, the 5th round was HR, with about 8-10 typical HR questions, including why I'm seeking a new role.
- They asked a medium DSA problem related to stacks.
