First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Plenty Farms.
Staff Mechanical Engineer
It started with a brief meet-and-greet with about 7 people. Then, I gave a 30-minute presentation that I prepared. After that, there were six one-on-one interviews with most of the folks who were at the presentation. The interviewers were engineering managers, leads, and engineers. The coordinators did a good job of helping me through everything, and the team seemed really open and helpful. I had plenty of chances to ask questions and got a solid feel for the project and the people. It was one of the better interview experiences I've had, especially these days.
- Can you describe how you would tackle various mechanical engineering challenges?
- What's your approach to solving mechanical design issues?
- How would you handle mechanical process-related problems?
Mechanical Engineer
The take-home assignment was a challenging and enjoyable task. Following that, there was an on-site interview conducted in a panel format. The recruiters weren't very forthcoming about equity details. The company declined to provide specific information on stock valuation, such as the number of outstanding shares or the preference stack, which raises some questions. Additionally, recruiters seemed to attempt to place me in a lower-level position than my experience warranted. The recruiting team has experienced turnover, so the process might have improved since my time there.
- Tell me about how you would approach and solve problems that are currently challenging the team.
Mechanical Design Engineer
I applied online and a recruiter reached out to me by email. She set up the first phone screening with her. I was just checking my interests and background and introducing the company. After the recruiter phone screening, the first interview was set with engineering manager. He was asking some specific question at the end of general resume based background and projects related questions.
- How do you approach designing for a product's life cycle, and have you used product life cycle management tools before?
