Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Playworks.
Program Coordinator
I submitted my application online and then got a call for a pre-screen. After that, I had a group interview with other candidates where we did some activities and played games to show our teaching skills. The last part was a one-on-one interview with the managers. I got the offer not too long after.
- Tell me about any experience you have working with children.
Coordinator
I applied and got a call a week later for a phone interview. They said I would hear back by the middle of next week but I didn't so I sent a follow up email. Then I got invited for an in person interview. I went and spoke with 4 people. They didn't know the next steps but said I'd hear back by the middle of next week again. I didn't hear back so I followed up with an email again. Then I received a generic rejection email a day later.
- What are your strategies for staying organized?
Program Coordinator
I got a call and email about a group interview. We had to prep a game for 4th graders. At the interview, we each presented our game to the group of interviewees and employees. We played the games. There were only two other interviewees. It was about 30 minutes. After the games, I got asked to do a 'formal' interview. I did it right away, so I finished both parts the same day. A few days later, I got the offer. Everyone was super nice. After the interview, my HR person was hard to reach and not always helpful.
- How do you handle managing large groups of children?
- Can you commit to this ten month role?
- How do you deal with receiving criticism?
