First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PlayStation.
QA Engineer
First, I had a call with a recruiter to chat about basic stuff. Then, I met with the hiring manager to go over what I'd be doing and some company history. After that, there was a technical interview with two senior SDETs. The last step was a meeting with the hiring manager's boss. Everything seemed to go okay until the very end. The prep for the final interview wasn't really clear. They said it wouldn't be super technical, but it ended up being about 80% technical and 20% about culture.
- Can you explain the QA pyramid in detail?
Software QA Intern
It was a really unprofessional experience. I got an invite to interview and had to pick a 1-hour video slot. After no updates and some follow-ups, they told me they had issues and wanted me to pick new slots. After I picked again, they did the same thing. Then, the recruiter emailed saying she'd do the interview herself (just to fill a spot). She scheduled a half-hour interview with me, but only showed up for 13 minutes to ask non-tech questions. Later, I got an email saying the team didn't select me.
- What makes you want to join Playstation?
QA Tester
The initial step was a video chat with the staffing agency to verify my identity, work ethic, and general suitability. Following that, I moved on to the main interview. This consisted of an online video meeting with two friendly but direct leads. They wanted to know about my previous QA experience, my preferred game genres, and my understanding of a QA's typical responsibilities. Since they were also avid gamers, we had some lighthearted conversation about shared hobbies, which was enjoyable, but they kept the interview focused on the role.
- Would you say you are more of an independent worker who uses their creativity, or do you function better with a defined list of tasks?
