Data Engineer
So, it was a 3 stage process, with 2 technical rounds. It kicked off with an HR round, and then the technical part focused on my resume and past work. We talked about SQL, databricks, and real-time pipelines.
- Can you explain a situation where you chose a real-time streaming pipeline over a batch pipeline and justify your decision?
Data Engineer
Had an initial chat with the hiring manager about general stuff - it was pretty laid-back, mostly about getting to know me and why I was interested in data engineering. Then, the last step was a panel interview that lasted about an hour, and it was based on competencies. At the very beginning of that, there was a 30-minute case study presentation.
- Can you share an instance where you had to make a swift decision, and explain your process?
- Tell me about a situation where you took more time to make a decision, and the reasons behind it?
Big Data Engineer
The whole thing took about two months. I was first contacted by a vendor on LinkedIn. The initial call was a technical phone interview, which went fine. Then I was invited for an in-person interview. They covered my flights to and from San Diego for a 5-hour interview session. Unfortunately, I didn't get a positive outcome in the end.
- Can you solve the Anagrams problem?
- Explain the time complexity of merging multiple sorted arrays.
- How would you reverse print an array using lambda expressions?
