First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Playa Hotels & Resorts.
Manager
The interviewers were nice and asked relevant questions about my background, making the interview a comfortable experience. The questions seemed appropriate for this type of role. We had two interviews plus a meeting with HR.
- Can you describe your previous experience in similar roles?
Marketing
I went through three interviews over two weeks, and the feedback was consistently positive. However, after all that, they informed me that the position wouldn't be filled until next year. I was really taken aback by how unprofessional that felt. It's hard to believe they'd waste my time and their own. Hiring timelines should be figured out before posting jobs and interviewing people. Hopefully, this company improves, but I'd be really cautious about applying or interviewing with them again.
- Can you discuss your background and how it fits the requirements of this position?
Art Director
The process was great. HR called me for a pre-interview, then set up a full interview. I met the Brand Manager and Copywriter, who would be my main creative partners. They were nice, professional, and seemed very amiable. The interview went well, lasting two hours, which is longer than usual for a Graphic Designer role, and felt like a good fit assessment. They indicated it went well and they'd decide in a few weeks. I expressed strong interest and sent thank you emails. I followed up multiple times via phone and email but received no response, which I found unprofessional. It's a shame because the job seemed fun with creative freedom, but the lack of communication after positive signals was disappointing.
- How do you handle managing several strict deadlines simultaneously?
Intern
I applied through the school website for a finance role and then got an on-campus interview. It was a single 30-minute interview where the recruiter asked general questions and shared more about the summer position, letting the conversation guide the topics.
- Could you describe your previous team involvement?
- What makes you want this job?
- What are your future career aspirations?
