Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Platform Science.
Software Engineer
We talked about salary first, and they said they could meet my minimum. Then the process included a 1 hour chat with the manager, a 3 hour coding assignment, and 3 hours of interviews. After all that, they gave me a verbal offer that was way less than what we first agreed on. I asked for the offer in writing but never got it. Don't bother with this company.
- The interview questions were pretty straightforward and easy.
Software Engineer
The team seemed really nice and technically skilled, but the timing wasn't right for me. It was the standard technical screening, then an all-day panel with both individual contributors and leaders.
- Discussed process and architecture.
Software Developer
There was an initial screening, then a coding interview where I had to map drivers to destination routes given certain conditions. After that, there were several 45-minute interviews with different people. These weren't technical but focused on general programming concepts, best practices, and mostly HR stuff. It was a bit repetitive as everyone asked the same questions. My suggestion for software engineers is to have just one round for managerial-type questions. While some of that is needed, it doesn't quite fit the real world, especially in tech. If you can do your job, that should be enough. Nobody brought up the coding challenges I completed. I think a coding challenge, one hardcore technical interview, and one managerial interview would be sufficient.
- Can you share an instance where your ideas clashed with colleagues?
- Describe the toughest bug you've faced.
- What are your expectations for a future leader?
