The entire interview process spanned approximately five weeks. I was initially contacted by HR via LinkedIn. The first interaction was a 30-minute call with the recruiter on the same day. Following that, I had a 30-minute conversation with the hiring manager. Next, I completed a three-part coding challenge which took me about 2.5 hours. The process concluded with a 1-hour meeting with the hiring manager and an architect. It felt like a complete waste of time because, despite progressing through each stage without negative feedback, I received only a generic rejection email in the end. My advice is not to waste your time like I did.

The HR screening was great, super professional and clear about the role. They moved fast, scheduling the next round for the next day. However, the manager interviews were a big letdown. One manager seemed totally checked out, talking in a monotone. The other kept getting distracted by another screen while I was talking, like they weren't even listening. Even though I explained my Salesforce/HubSpot and SQL/Python skills and how they fit, they asked a basic question I already covered ('Are you a coder?'). When I asked about reporting issues, they couldn't give a straight answer. Felt like my prep wasn't really valued by the managers.

interviewed for a Customer Success Manager role and went through a two-step process, first with the Talent Acquisition Manager, then with the Manager and Director of Customer Success. Even though I didn’t get the final offer, the experience was professional, respectful, and well-organized throughout. Everyone I spoke with was thoughtful, transparent, and genuinely passionate about the team and the company culture. It’s clear they care about finding the right fit on both sides. I walked away with a very positive impression and would absolutely consider applying again in the future.

PlanHubs recruiter Kimberly contacted me on LinkedIn, saying I seemed like a perfect fit for the role. We had a 20-30 minute chat, and she seemed impressed, wanting to move me forward. She mentioned that if I connected well with Tom, it would be a great match and she'd schedule the interview with him that day. She also told me to text her with any questions. Weeks passed without any communication. After about a week to 10 days, I texted to ask if the role was filled or if I should stop waiting. She replied that if I couldn't wait, I should move on. I explained I was just looking for an update and was happy to wait, but she didn't respond after that. Several more weeks have gone by with no updates since what seemed like a really positive first interview. I was eager to continue the process as it seemed like a good fit for both sides, but now I'm unsure if they're actually hiring, if they reach out to people without real intent to proceed, or if the company is just unstable. I believe clear communication is vital, and it was really lacking here in the initial stages.
