So there are usually two levels to this. The first is a technical one, and then the second is an in-person interview. The first one happens over the phone, and the second one is in person. Two different people will do the interviews. The first person is a technical expert, and the second person is the PM you'd be working with.

I had a technical interview where the interviewer seemed unaware that canvas apps can connect to SharePoint and didn't know how those permissions would work. They also repeatedly called Dataverse by its old name, CDS.

The technical interview seemed okay, but it became evident that the Practice Manager wasn't experienced enough to lead a good interview and lacked people skills. The PM then told the recruiter I didn't have good consulting skills, which is ridiculous given my 10+ years in consulting and extensive SharePoint experience since Tahoe. I'm glad I didn't get an offer, because working under that PM would have been terrible.

Salary talks fell through initially because it was 30K less than I wanted, but they called back and I went straight to a face-to-face interview, skipping the phone screen. The interview was supposed to be 60-75 minutes but went for about 120 minutes. The hiring manager was taking notes on a laptop; it felt more like they were gathering information than conducting a real interview. They asked a lot of hypothetical and design questions, noting my responses. I suspect they were really just collecting ideas for their current project using my knowledge. After a few days, I got positive feedback from the first interview, but then they asked for documents about my past projects. That was a huge red flag for me, definitely just fishing for information. Not professional at all. I'd avoid this company.
