First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Plan International USA.
Project Coordinator
I applied and heard back for a phone interview about two weeks later. After that, the second round was an Excel project where I had to make a budget for my department. I was supposed to get feedback after that to know if I would advance to a third level. They contacted me 10 days later to let me know the position had been cancelled.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
Social Media Manager
It was a super relaxed and comfortable interview done from home. Their interview process is quite long, but at the same time it felt rushed. There was very little time between the interview offer and the proposed dates, and candidates go through 4 interviews before the potential of a job offer. It's understandable but unfortunate if you're really searching for a job.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join our company?
Corporate Partnerships Manager
I had an initial chat with someone from the recruitment firm Plan had hired. After that, they told me I wouldn't be moving on to the next stage, which would have been with Plan staff. Even though I was bummed, I was grateful for the casual preliminary interview, and also happy that the recruiter gave me some good reasons why I wasn't selected to go further.
- Can you tell me about your experience building corporate partnerships, and give me some examples?
- What's the biggest gift you've ever gotten?
- Tell me about any unique projects, like events or fundraising ideas, that you've been involved with.
Manager
It was a pretty simple interview process. Started with a phone screen, then there was a panel interview with about 3-4 people, and then a final chat with the head of the team you'd be joining. They communicated really well throughout, and the questions weren't meant to trick you.
- Can you start by telling us a bit about yourself?
- If asked, what three words would your friends use to describe you?
- Tell me about a time you created a system. What was your process, and how did you gain buy-in from others?
