First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Placer County (California).
Agricultural Inspector Aide
It was a pretty chill interview, they asked some basic stuff, the people interviewing me were nice. It went for about half an hour, and then there was a 15-20 minute practical test where I was alone in another room to see if I could figure out directions and draw a map.
- In which direction would North be if you were facing East?
- Can you share an experience where you had to handle a difficult or upset member of the public?
Eligibility Specialist
It was a few interviews. Started with a call to get the basic info. Then another interview that dug deeper into personality. I didn't make it to the last stage, and there wasn't much communication about it.
- How would you handle an angry client?
Agriculture Aide
My interview was some time ago but it was easy going and low key. There were 4 interviewers, all very nice and professional; it was about what you’d expect from a position like this at the county. It took quite a while to hear back, if at all.
- Tell us about yourself and why you applied?
Help Desk Technician
I applied online and about a month later, I got an email to move forward to an oral interview, which was another month after that. It was a panel interview with three people, two of whom I'd met before. They didn't introduce themselves or explain their roles. They weren't very welcoming and just quickly got to asking questions. They asked some situational questions, some about my experience with software, operating systems, and other job-specific things. A few days after that, I got an email saying I didn't get the job. I don't think I was really given a fair shot to show what I could do in that interview.
- How would you handle a clerk experiencing a technical problem?
- Do you work better by yourself or with others?
- Are you open to traveling for work if needed?
