Brand Marketing Manager
I had an initial screening call with the recruiter. Then I was confirmed for a virtual interview with the CFO. But, half an hour before that interview, the recruiter texted saying the CFO was unavailable and I would be meeting with someone from the Performance Marketing team instead. The person who actually interviewed me was unpleasant and confrontational about my experience, not having looked at my resume, and was arguing with my responses. She was also really defensive about the company's market position compared to bigger competitors. Definitely seems like a place to avoid.
- How would you define success in brand marketing?
Director of Revenue Management
The interview seemed pretty quick but they really dove into a lot of stuff, especially about how you lead and solve problems. They hit on revenue strategy, making decisions, and how you work with others and communicate.
- Tell me about how you manage conflicts in your team and give me an instance.
- How do you make sure revenue management, sales, and operations are all on the same page?
- What's your approach when dealing with team members who aren't performing well?
Graphic Designer
The interview process kicked off with a phone call. It was pretty direct, with no small talk or introductions. I was immediately asked why I wanted to join Placemakr. The person on the other end didn't introduce themselves or the company, and when I asked about the role, they seemed to just read from the job description. Even with that initial impression, I decided to proceed. I was invited to speak with a more senior person, but scheduling was a bit of a hassle as I had to offer multiple times. After waiting a week, the second interview got cancelled just 20 minutes beforehand because of a 'company wide emergency meeting'. I haven't heard back since, even after reaching out.
- Tell me why you're interested in working with us.
- What do you see as your biggest design weakness?
Revenue Analyst
The first step was a phone call where they asked basic questions, although the recruiter didn't seem to have read my resume. The focus was on why I wanted to join the team and what made me unique, rather than what the company offers. The next step was an interview with the revenue VP, who wasn't very pleasant but I didn't dwell on it. This interview consisted solely of situational questions like 'tell me about a time when…', with no inquiries about my current role or skills. Following that, I had to complete an assessment that was advertised as taking only 2 hours, but as others have noted, it took much longer. The assessment itself was poorly designed, time-consuming, and didn't accurately gauge skill level. Overall, the entire process felt like a waste of time.
- Describe a situation where you had a disagreement with a coworker and explain your reaction.
