Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PJT Partners.
Intern
First, there was a technical interview with an analyst or associate. Then, a superday with managing directors and an associate to test fit and technical skills. The whole thing took about 2 weeks and they let me know the decision quickly.
- Describe a situation where you encountered an ethical dilemma.
Intern
We had a 15-minute quiz to gauge your personality and responsiveness. Don't overthink the personality questions, and try to answer as many reaction questions as possible. It's important to complete many questions with a high accuracy rate.
- What is your motivation for choosing our company?
Intern
We had a first round and a second round, both of which were behavioral. Then there was a case study, followed by a super day. The super day was about 2.5 hours long and involved meeting with 5 different people, with each meeting lasting about 30 minutes. These interviewers ranged from associate to partner level. The first interview within the super day focused on the case study and was more technical than the others.
- How does this opportunity align with your long-term career goals?
- Can you share an instance where you experienced a failure?
- What prompted your interest in our company?
