It was a pretty long interview process for a part time summer job, but the pay is decent and you learn a lot about the program. It prioritizes parents' needs over staff needs, and you have to enjoy working with kids.

I had a long phone interview with the hiring manager. It went really well. Then I went in the next day for another long interview with just the two of us and then a third person joined. That went great. She then asked me to come back to meet the person I'd be managing and the CFO. And then again with the two women I'd met before. On that visit, I had to create a full plan for the year, which took a really long time and I felt was super thorough. After that, we discussed benefits, salary, and they requested 5 references. They used this really weird survey question format with rankings and no space for comments. All my references thought it was a bad way to do it. Despite that, they seemed to really like me throughout the interviews and everything I said. I had a call scheduled with the hiring manager where I expected an offer, but the night before, I saw the job posting, which had been taken down, was back up. During the call, she said they weren't making me an offer and didn't think it was a good fit, which felt misleading since nothing in the process suggested that. She blamed it on one of my references not doing me any favors, but my references all said they gave glowing feedback. It was a huge waste of time, and honestly, I feel like I avoided a bad situation by not getting the offer.

The interviewer first looked over my resume and cover letter. Then, they asked the typical opening questions: a bit about myself and why I'm interested in this role. After I talked about my background and career path, they asked me to expand on each of my previous jobs listed on my resume. Finally, we discussed the specific duties and responsibilities of the Event Manager position, as well as the expected working hours.
